Injured firefighters released from hospital following Shade Twp. blaze

Fire officials in Somerset County say the two firefighters who were injured late Wednesday night while battling a blaze in Shade Township were released from the hospital earlier Thursday.

Authorities say the two Stoystown Volunteer firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a reported 2nd alarm fire along Leppert Road.

911 officials say multiples crews from Somerset and Bedford counties were dispatched the the scene, as well as hazmat crews, following reports of explosions.

No other injuries have been reported at this time and officials have not yet released the cause of the fire.

A hazmat team was called to a house fire in Shade Twp. Wednesday evening, according to Somerset County 911.

It's unclear what the hazmat situation is. Emergency crews were originally called to the 200 block of Leppert Rd. for a 2nd alarm fire.

County 911 tells us it's unclear if anyone was living at the house before it went up in flames. They add that two firefighters were sent to the hospital with injuries. It's unclear what started the fire.
